Lieutenant Larsen started his law enforcement career
with the Nevada Highway Patrol in 1995, working as a Trooper in the
Wells District-Wendover area, then spent six years in the Carson/Tahoe
District in traffic operations. From 2000 to 2007, in addition to
traffic operations, also worked as a Field Training Officer, Background
Investigator, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor and held
various assignments within all three command areas including time with
the Department of Public Safety/Training Division as a Training Officer,
and Acting Sergeant for the Wells District.
In 2005 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and
assigned to Southern Command-Las Vegas Urban Swing Shift. During his
time in Las Vegas, Lt. Larsen also accepted an assignment as the
Supervisor for the Crash Investigation Detail.
Most recently, Lt. Larsen was promoted to the rank of
Lieutenant and is currently assigned as the Deputy Commander of Southern
Command Urban-graveyard shift, and Rural South Districts.
In 1995, Lt. Larsen obtained his Associate of Applied
Science-Criminal Justice Degree and prior to his graduation from the
Nevada Highway Patrol academy XXXVI, he graduated from the Utah Police
Officer Standards and Training Academy class #195. During his time with
the Nevada Highway Patrol, he has obtained an Advanced Nevada Police
Officer Standards and Training certificate. He has also received
specialized training from the National Highway Transportation Safety
Administration, Critical Incident Management, and is a graduate of
Northwestern University Traffic Institute-Traffic Accident
Reconstruction I and II. Additionally, in 1998, he was given an
honorable discharge from the United States Army Reserve after 8 years of
service.
